The Russian scientific community is creating new chains of interaction with foreign partners

The 3rd International Conference on Technologies, Properties and Applications of Rare Metals and Related Materials (RAREMET-2024) (April 3-5, 2024, Moscow) will be one of the most important events for the Russian scientific and business community in the field of rare metal technologies. The functioning of the Russian economy in the sanctions regime poses to the scientific community of the country not only a number of technological challenges, but also the task of creating areas of interaction with foreign partners.

The conference was organized by the Giredmet Institute with the support of Rusatom Metal Tech JSC and TVEL JSC. The partners of the event were the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Within the framework of the RAREMET-2024 conference we plan not only to update the priority list of tasks, but also, by focusing on them, to offer the most rational solutions that can be implemented in the real sector of the economy in the shortest possible time. To do this, it is important today to deepen the partnership between business and the academic community.

It should be noted that foreign colleagues are interested in the conference. This year we expect more than 300 participants from 14 countries, including India, Egypt, Turkey, China, Mongolia, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, which is another demonstration of Russia's position as a business link between Asia and Africa," commented Andrey Goliney, Director of Chemical EngineeringThe technological block of JSC "Science and Innovation" is the management organization of JSC "Giredmet".

RAREMET is a platform for scientists, manufacturers and consumers, where they can meet and exchange their views and promote their projects, which can become the basis for international cooperation. Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) Deependra Singh (India), Managing director - New Projects and Technology Development of Kalyani Group Gaurav Shukla (India), heads of Hydrogen Egypt (H2EG) Khaled Nageib and Dalia Samir, as well as other representatives of foreign business will speak at the plenary session and panel discussion of the conference.

Deputy Director for Science and Innovation at the Giredmet Institute, Konstantin V. Ivanovskikh, underlined: "We appreciate that a very representative delegation of foreign scientists and business representatives from at least 15 countries will take part in the conference. On the one hand, this shows the interest of the world community in the development of technologies and the rare metals market in our country, and on the other hand, our openness to the development of raw materials and technological cooperation with foreign partners in order to establish diversified supply chains of both raw materials and finished products based on rare and rare earth metals. The REDMET Conference has already established itself as the largest Russian discussion platform for the development and strengthening of business and scientific contacts on all stages and facets of the formation of rare metal technologies and related high-tech industries. Our institute, as the country's leading materials science organization in the field of rare metals, sees and assumes key responsibility for building communications between industry and science in this area. We must work together in order to create the foundations for the sustainable development of high-tech industries."

The Indian business community will be represented at the conference by Gaurav Shukla, Managing Director for New Projects and Technology Development of the Kalyani Group.

For the editorial of «Atomic Energy», Gaurav Shukla commented on his decision to participate in the conference: «Russia and other CIS countries have an important role to play in the global supply chain of rare metals and rare earth elements and can potentially become a leading global supplier. I am confident that the RAREMET conference will contribute to strengthening ties between our regions in order to build strategic cooperation and achieve a better future for our countries.»

The list of conference speakers representing the domestic rare metals sector will be also significant. They will be Academician, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Aslan Tsivadze and corresponding member Yevgeny Antipov.

Mikhail Korzyk, Head of the laboratory at the Institute of Nuclear Problems of the Belarusian State University, commented on his participation in the conference: «RAREMET will be informative and useful for exchanging views, as a representative team of experts from the Russian Federation is expected to participate.»

The conference will begin with plenary presentations from leading representatives of science and business, as well as government authorities. During the first day, a panel discussion will also be held, where the most pressing issues of the development of the rare metal industry in Russia and abroad will be discussed. The following days will be devoted to work in sections in the following areas: technologies for processing natural and man-made mineral raw materials based on rare metals, technologies for producing rare, refractory and rare earth metals, alloys and dispersed media based on them, magnetic alloys, technologies of light RM (Li, Be, Rb, Cs), technologies of scattered elements (In, Ga, Sb, Ge, Re), especially pure materials based on rare metals, semiconductor and optical materials, radiation and IR photonics materials.
